This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the series being covered here wouldn’t exist.
What is this movie and when can I watch it? Not only does it feature Simon Pegg with a peculiar American(?) accent, but also features the voice of Neil Gaiman and a talking mongoose named Jeff (it’s actually spelled Gef and yes, Gaiman is the voice of said Gef).
So what’s Gef got to do with it? Here is this wonderful film’s official synopsis:

The Navigating Fox
Simon Pegg, Minnie Driver, and Christopher Lloyd star in this wildly entertaining adventure based on a (possibly) true tale set in 1935 London. When famed paranormal psychologist Dr. Nandor Fodor (Pegg) investigates a family’s claims of a talking animal, he uncovers a mysterious web of hidden motives. Soon, everyone becomes a suspect in Dr. Fodor’s relentless pursuit of the truth.
Yes, this movie, along with Pegg and a talking mongoose named Gef, also stars Christopher Lloyd and Minnie Driver. If you watched the trailer, you know that Gef, who purportedly lives in a barn on the Isle of Man, ultimately calls up Nandor Fodor on the phone(!) and that the good doctor appears to be progressively losing it as the film progresses. The film comes to us from writer-director Adam Sigal, the mind who is also behind the John Malkovich-starring vehicle, Chariot, which also seems similarly bonkers in the best way possible.
Want some Gef in your lives? Nandor Fodor and the Talking Mongoose premieres in theaters on September 1, 2023 and will be available via digital on-demand starting September 19, 2023.
Here’s a poster of a befuddled Fodor for you to enjoy in the meantime:
